Masemola to be in the dock with 'Cat' Matlala

PRETORIA - Suspended police commissioner Fannie Masemola will be back in the Pretoria Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

This time, he joins alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, a director of Medicare24 and 12 high-ranking police officials in the dock for their alleged roles in a R228 million tender scandal.

In his first appearance,  Masemola stood all on his own.

He was charged with violating the Public Finance Management Act, but now he'll be in the company of an alleged criminal kingpin and a dozen allegedly crooked cops.

Masemola maintains his innocence.

The State is expected to officially merge Masemola’s case with that of Matlala and the 12 officers to present a unified prosecution.

The courtroom and the dock will be filled to capacity for this highly anticipated appearance.

The state has indicated that investigations are at an advanced stage, and a more detailed charge sheet may be presented in court.
