PRETORIA - Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala says former police minister Bheki Cele actually wanted R1-million in bribe money from him.
Matlala says he instead made two payments to Cele, totaling half a million.
"I gave him three (R300,000) and again I gave him two (R200,000) like I mentioned," Matlala said.
"The day I decided to stop, I was supposed to give him R300,000 again but that never happened. It's when I decided to stop taking his calls."

Matlala says the reported R300,000 cash bribe for Cele was carried inside a Woolworths shopping bag.
He says the money was withdrawn from an FNB bank at Menlyn Maine shopping centre in Pretoria.
Matlala is testifying before Parliament's SAPS Ad Hoc Committee into corruption in the criminal justice system.
