Mchunu tells Madlanga Commission PKTT had reached its time span

This is according to a new police organisational structure.

He made a brief appearance before the Inquiry on Tuesday.

National Commissioner Fannie Masemola was meant to approve the PKTT's disbanding.

Mchunu says the Team had reached the end of its timespan, and that its operation beyond 2022 was in violation of the Public Finance Management Act.

He also told the commission the PKTT was not part of the SAPS 2024 structure plan, which aimed to have all task teams fall under the murder and robbery unit.

Mchunu added he was not briefed about the work of the Political Killings Task Team and its deployment strategies.

Mchunu is expected to be back on Thursday.
