JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Mayor Dada Morero has pledged to move Doornkop Block 1 residents to safer ground.
This comes after three people died when their house collapsed due to structural defects and unstable dolomitic ground.
But Action SA says these promises are nothing new.
Most homes here sit on unstable land, which is prone to sinkholes.

In the late 1990s, authorities relocated some residents over safety fears.
Yet, within a few years, new illegal structures had sprung up across the area.
NGOs came out in numbers to support the family with relief packages, burial arrangements and plans to build a new home.
For now, the Doornkop community is back to waiting, hoping the City will finally deliver on its relocation promise.
