JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Director of Public Prosecutions, Andrew Chauke, has been cleared and found fit to remain in office.
Former National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head Advocate Shamila Batohi had accused Chauke of wrongly charging former KZN Hawks head Johan Booysen and members of the Cato Manor Organised Crime Unit with racketeering.

She had also questioned his decision not to prosecute former crime intelligence head Richard Mdluli.
President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed the Nkabinde Inquiry to investigate whether or not Chauke was fit to hold office.
He has been on paid suspension since July 2025.
