JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA has joined the DA as the second party to lay an ethics complaint against the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pemmy Majodina.
This following a profanity exchange between herself and a community member from Kouga in the Eastern Cape during the launch of an upgraded pump station.
In a statement on Thursday the Party lambasted the action calling it a “disgraceful verbal attack".
“The Minister’s use of vulgar and abusive language is completely at odds with the standards of conduct expected of a Member of Parliament and a member of Cabinet. Her conduct undermines the dignity of public office and brings Parliament into disrepute.”
The incident captured in a video, saw a community member who was being escorted out of the venue shouting "jou ma se ****" to Majodina, who then responded by saying "Phuma! Jou ma se **** ook."

According to ActionSA, those in public office are expected to conduct themselves with ‘dignity, restraint and respect’, and this applies to the Minister.
"There is simply no place for this kind of behaviour "
“Minister Majodina’s conduct is emblematic of an arrogant and entrenched political establishment that has become completely disconnected from the citizens it is supposed to serve.”
ActionSA is calling for action against the Majodina's conduct and has also called for her to issue and apology.
When eNCA reached out to the Minister's office for a comment, they said, “Unfortunately, the Minister is not available for comments.”
