DURBAN - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has denied issuing arrest warrants for March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma and her husband, Xolani Zuma, following claims by the organisation that the couple could be arrested by Friday, 16 October.
The NPA was responding to a statement issued by March and March on Wednesday, alleging that the couple would be arrested on or before the date.
“The NPA wishes to categorically deny that any warrant of arrest was issued, and that it does not receive instructions from political parties, holders of public office, or anyone else on its prosecutorial function,” NPA spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said in a statement.

“The NPA encourages people and organisations to desist from making unfounded allegations or comments which may serve to misrepresent and undermine the criminal justice process,” Kganyago added.
KwaZulu-Natal police also dismissed the rumours.
In its statement, March and March alleged that the couple’s possible arrest was an attempt to “cause civil unrest and disrupt the upcoming 4 November local government elections”.
The statement further claimed that an executive committee meeting had been held to discuss whether the couple should be arrested before or during the elections.
March and March is among the organisations calling on undocumented migrants to leave South Africa.
