JOHANNESBURG - Parents displeased with the Gauteng online admissions process want it reviewed and scrapped.
Nearly 90 percent of applicants for Grades 1 and 8 have been placed, but some parents are still waiting to hear which schools their children will attend next year.
The number of those who’ve applied for next year’s Grade 1 and Grade 8 intake has already exceeded the 2025 tally.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says no contingency plan involves doing away with the online admissions system.

The department has dismissed reports that its website was offline at some point.
The placement of all pupils is meant to be completed by 12 December.
Chiloane says the 2027 admissions process will begin earlier in the year.
