JOHANNESBURG - A deadly shooting at a tavern in Carletonville has left 17 people dead and at least 15 others injured, triggering a major manhunt for the suspects.
Armed men stormed the tavern and opened fire, using AK-47 rifles and pistols. Panic erupted as patrons scrambled for safety during the attack.
At least 15 people were wounded in the shooting and rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Police say the suspects allegedly robbed patrons of their cellphones before fleeing the scene in two vehicles.
Gauteng police say the suspects are known and say they expect arrests soon.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and police investigations are continuing.
