Police probing Basotho 'military' camps

JOHANNESBURG - Police are intensifying investigations into reports of military training camps involving Basotho nationals.

Last week, Lesotho police claimed Basotho youth are being recruited for military training in South Africa.

Its National Police Commissioner described it as a growing national security threat to Lesotho.

The issue topped the agenda at a recent meeting of Police Commissioners.

NATJOINTS co-chair, Lieutenant-General Tebello Mosikili, said police bosses are in contact with their Lesotho counterparts.

"We are engaging with our colleagues in Lesotho, and all the security clusters have a responsibility to make sure we do those engagements and analysi,s and we'll continue to do that," she said.
