MBOMBELA - Authorities have intercepted a major drug and illicit goods consignment at the Oshoek Port of Entry in Mpumalanga.
A joint operation by Border Management Authority, SARS and the SAPS uncovered 50 bags of dagga weighing over 670kg with an estimated street value of R2,8-million.
Also in the shipment were 916 illicit tyres in a truck from Eswatini.

The truck driver fled the scene and is currently being hunted by police.
All seized items have been registered for evidence and a criminal case has been opened.
Officials say this highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration in securing borders and disrupting criminal networks.
