Police top brass urge communities to help fight crime

DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape police commissioners urge communities to do more to help root out crime.

In crime statistics for the fourth quarter of 2024/25, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and the Eastern Cape recorded the bulk of murder incidents nationally.

KwaZulu-Natal recorded the highest rape rate, contributing nearly 20 percent to the national total.

Police say communities, too, must play their part to address the root causes of crime to help reduce it.
