JOHANNESBURG - Several Johannesburg neighbourhoods have been without water for four days following Rand Water's planned maintenance on Friday.
Last week, the bulk water supplier's spokesperson, Nombuso Shabalala, said the shutdown was scheduled to run from 7am to 7pm on Friday, 17 July.
Ahead of the maintenance, Rand Water urged households to store enough water. However, some residents reported dry taps even before the shutdown began.

The utility also warned that the impact of the maintenance would vary from suburb to suburb.
In an update over the weekend, Rand Water said the water supply would not be restored immediately.
"The system needs time to build capacity. Low-lying areas will recover first, while high-lying areas usually take longer. Area-specific details will be shared on your local municipality's social media accounts," it said on its official X account.
