'Store water ahead of planned maintenance' - Joburg Water

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg residents have been urged to store water ahead of the Rand Water's planned maintenance.

The water utility will be running the second phase of their maintenance from Friday. The 12-hour operation may see certain household experience low water pressure to no water at all.

Joburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala said while recovery will different areas will take a few hours to several days.

Areas in the South like Orange Farm, Ennerdale and Lawley will not be affected. However, Sandton, Midrand, Randburg, Roodepoort and Soweto will be most affected. Johannesburg central like Alexandra, Kesington, Bertrams and Bruma will also be affected.

Shabalala explains that the second maintenance phase will not be as intense as the first one in June and is expected to be shorter.

Roaming tankers will also be available to assist more residents. However, hospital, clinics, old age homes and schools will be prioritised.
