SAA Group CEO John Lamola resigns

JOHANNESBURG - South African Airways (SAA) Group CEO John Lamola has resigned.

Lamola will leave the airline at the end of the month.

He first joined the organisation in July 2021 as a non-executive director and chairperson of the board, before assuming the role of Group CEO in May 2022.

Matshela Seshibe, the CEO of SAA’s subsidiary company, Air Chefs, has been appointed as the acting Group CEO of SAA.

The airline said the process to recruit the permanent Group CEO would commence shortly.

“Professor Lamola has played a pivotal role in rebuilding South African Airways and positioning it for sustained success. His leadership during a complex and demanding period has left a lasting and positive legacy on the organisation,” said the chairperson of the SAA board, Sedzani Mudau.

Meanwhile, the SAA board has also noted the recent resignation of three Board members for varying reasons.
