Samwu slams Treasury over withheld municipal funds

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu), is fuming at Treasury's move to withhold funding from some municipalities.

Samwu says the decision is a collective punishment that will only hurt workers and communities.

It is calling on Treasury to deal directly with those behind financial mismanagement.

The union says without that, the move will only accelerate the problem they are hoping to resolve.

It is urging Treasury to work with provincial governments to solve the problem.
