SAPS members implicated in Madlanga and Ad Hoc Committee identified

JOHANNESBURG - SAPS members implicated in the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and the Ad Hoc Committee have been identified and issued with notices of investigation.

This was confirmed by Police National Commissioner Fannie Masemola during a media briefing on Friday afternoon.

Masemola said that on 11 November 2025, he established and appointed a task team of skilled senior officers mandated to monitor evidence presented at the commissions and identify SAPS members who were implicated.

He said the process was necessary to ensure that disciplinary investigations are initiated where there is credible information that may point to misconduct.

While Masemola said the names of the officers cannot be disclosed at this stage, he confirmed that five members have been identified, one of whom has already been suspended.

The remaining officers have been served with notices of intended suspension.

“We are still considering their representations, as their notices of suspension are currently under consideration,” Masemola said.

Newly appointed National Director of Public Prosecutions Andy Mothibi said they have noted the establishment of the task team and will be supported by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

He also confirmed that the asset forfeiture unit will also be involved in the probe.
