UPDATE: Eight Milnerton High pupils appear in court

NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said, "We can confirm that there are six of the learners from Milnerton High School appeared at Court 16 today; in total, all eight are appearing."

"The other two, who are minors, are appearing at Court 19 as they are juveniles."

"They are facing eight charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, the state is not opposing bail as the accused have got fixed addresses, there are no outstanding warrants or pending cases against them..."

"What the magistrate raised was her concern that if she releases these six, they will go back to the same school where the same complainants are."

"The issue now was whether can they find an alternative for them when they go back to school."

"The suspension they are on ends next Thursday, so there's been a communication between us and the school as well as the Department of Education. We will report back to the court and the court will make a decision."
