Storms wreak havoc across Gauteng

EKURHULENI - Mop-up operations begin after weekend storms caused chaos, flooding homes and roads and uprooting trees in parts of Gauteng. 

The storms triggered flooding and uprooted trees across Gauteng.

In Ekurhuleni, several accidents were also reported.

Ekurhuleni disaster management spokesperson Eric Maloka said they remain on high alert.

"We're pleading with road users not to cross flooded areas because they can cause fatalities," he said.

In Soweto, Joburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said the water levels are almost full.

"If you look at informal residents there's a risk for them to be swept away if they cross flooded areas," he said.
