PRETORIA - State Advocate Drushantha Ramsamy has accused former Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Andrea Johnson of misleading the Madlanga Commission about her role in high-profile investigations.
Testifying before the Commission on Thursday, Ramsamy rejected Johnson's claims that she relied on investigators' briefings and was not directly involved in operational decisions.
Instead, she alleged that Johnson oversaw every significant step in the investigations, including matters relating to Medicare and Crime Intelligence.

Ramsamy told the Commission that Johnson had appointed herself as the supervisor of the investigations and exercised complete control over the process.
She further claimed that Johnson and senior official Perumal were in constant communication, regularly updating one another on developments and influencing decisions.
During the proceedings, Commissioner Mbuyiseni Madlanga remarked that the evidence suggested Johnson's version was "a lie".

Ramsamy agreed with the assessment, despite acknowledging the possible consequences of her testimony.
"At the risk of being very badly victimised when I get back to the office, it's a lie. It is a straight lie," Ramsamy told the Commission.
Ramsamy will continue her testimony on Tuesday, 4 August.
