UDM wants SA Human Rights Commission to investigate Broos

JOHANNESBURG - The United Democratic Movement has reported Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos to the South African Human Rights Commission.

The UDM alleges that Broos made racist and sexist remarks towards Bafana Bafana's young centre-back Mbekezeli Mbokazi and his agent, Basia Michaels.

Broos was scathing about Orlando Pirates defender following his late showing to camp on Wednesday

At the team's press conference, Broos questioned the 20-year-old's professionalism and cast doubt upon the advice he is receiving from his agent.

Now the UDM has requested an urgent intervention and investigation by the SAHRC.

"It is publicly reported that Coach Broos stated of Mr Mbokazi that “he is currently a Black man, but he will come out white after,” allegedly in reference to a missed flight. It is further alleged that he referred to Ms Michaels as “that little woman who is his agent who thinks she knows football, if she is a little bit clever ...” These remarks, if confirmed, constitute racially suggestive and sexist utterances that demean the dignity of the individuals concerned and undermine the constitutional values that govern all public institutions, including national sports structures," the party said in a statement.

Bafana Bafana are currently in camp in Pretoria as they prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, due to start later this month.
