UPDATE: WSU shooting | Case postponed to October

MTHATHA - A Walter Sisulu University residence manager is back in court.

He's accused of shooting a student dead during campus protests in April.

The case was postponed to 30 October for further investigation.

Manelisi Mampane is accused of murdering student Sisonke Mbolekwa during student unrest.

He also faces charges of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Mampane is currently out on R10,000 bail.

Clashes between police and students have previously turned violent over Mampane's release on bail.

Students are calling for justice for Mbolekwa and urgent improvements to campus safety.
