Water woes linger after Rand Water shutdown ends

JOHANNESBURG - Taps were meant to be flowing by now.

But for many Johannesburg residents, it's still a waiting game.

With Rand Water’s 48-hour shutdown officially over, large parts of the city remain dry.

Airlocks, burst pipes and vandalised valves are now hampering recovery efforts.  

Councillors are questioning whether the maintenance work did more harm than good.
