CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Government has been granted an interdict to take measures to curb ongoing taxi violence.
A war over routes has erupted in Mfuleni, Somerset West, Nomzamo, and Lwandle.
The court order, effective immediately, targets rival minibus taxi associations.
It prohibits threats, intimidation, and interference with transport services on key routes and at taxi ranks.

The order gives authorities legal power to protect commuters and restore stability.
Operators are required to follow the rules, stop unlawful behaviour and report back to the court within three days.
The interdict will remain in effect until 9 October, when the court will consider making it permanent.
