Zuma-Sambudla seeks to have case dismissed

DURBAN - All eyes are on the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Durban as Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla’s defence team moves to have the case against her dismissed.

The application is scheduled to be argued at 2pm this afternoon, with Judge Mbuzeni Mathenjwa expected to deliver a ruling on Thursday or reserve judgment for a later date.

During the previous court sitting, the defence challenged the credibility of state witness Colonel Bheki Nazo, alleging that his statements had been written by someone else.

The defence also portrayed Nazo as a pawn in what it described as a political battle against former President Jacob Zuma. Nazo expressed discomfort with this line of questioning.

Zuma-Sambudla is standing trial over allegations that she encouraged the July 2021 unrest that erupted following her father’s imprisonment.

The court’s decision on the dismissal application could mark a significant moment in the proceedings.
