Zolani Tete family chooses forgiveness as accused killers await bail ruling

KUGOMPO CITY - In a stunning display of grace, the family of slain boxer Zolani Tete says they hold no grudges against his accused killers.

The family joined a packed crowd at the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court, waiting in anticipation for a ruling on the bail applications of Uzuzole Goqwana and Sinebongo Qase.

"We have forgiven them as we are a God-fearing family, so we must forgive so that everything can go well," said Tete's sister Colleen Tete.

However, their wait continues after the court postponed the judgment.

Allegations of backroom collusion have thrown a wrench into the high-profile murder case.

Defence lawyers Ayabonga Kampi and Asanda Pakada slammed the state, claiming prosecutors and the magistrate improperly discussed a ballistic report without the defence being present.

They are now questioning whether the findings of this report will be admissible in court.

The state has denied these claims and the National Prosecuting Authority is adamant that there won't be any further delays.

The bail ruling is expected on Friday, while two other men, allegedly involved in the murder, are still in custody after abandoning their bail bids.
