12 life terms for convicted rapist Gerhard Ackerman

JOHANNESBURG - Convicted rapist and child sex offender Gerhard Ackerman has been handed 12 life sentences.

He appeared in the High Court in Johannesburg on Monday morning.

Ackerman was found guilty of over 700 charges.

He was charged together with acting judge and senior advocate Paul Kennedy.

Kennedy died by suicide before the trial began.
