Accused in Witness D murder case angered by bail postponement

BRAKPAN - Alleged trigger-man Matipandile Sotheni appeared briefly in the Brakpan magistrate's court.

Sotheni has been charged with murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The former SAPS Special Task Force officer is accused of killing Madlanga Commission's Witness D, Marius van der Merwe, in December last year.

Van der Merwe was shot a month after giving bombshell testimony about corruption and an alleged murder coverup involving members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department.

Sotheni was expected to apply for bail on his second appearance.

But his legal representative asked for a postponement in order to get instructions.

Sotheni was unhappy with this turn of events and made it known.
