JOHANNESBURG - Alleged hitman Musa Kekana will take the stand on Tuesday as the defence’s second witness in the trial-within-a-trial involving Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his co-accused.
The proceedings are focused on whether evidence obtained during Kekana’s arrest should be admitted before the main trial can proceed.
Kekana has told the court that police searched him without a warrant and that he was assaulted during his arrest.

Matlala, his wife Tsakani, Kekana, Tiego Mabusela and Nthabiseng Nzama face 25 counts linked to alleged botched assassination attempts.
The accused are alleged to have targeted Cat Matlala’s former girlfriend, actress Tebogo Thobejane; music producer DJ Vettys; and taxi boss Joe Ferrari Sibanyoni.
