JOHANNESBURG - The ANC has once again failed to announce its mayoral candidates for the country's major metros, strategic secondary cities, and towns.
The party initially committed to announcing its mayoral candidates in September, after failing to do so in August.
But that month has come and gone, and no announcement, or at least an indication of when it'll do so, has yet been made.

ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula assured that they have done interviews and will be revealing people who have the potential to be mayoral candidates.
“The ANC campaign is not dependent on candidates. It is driven and dependent on the face of the campaign who is the President. The add on is the candidates, which is the decision that has been taken by the leadership and therefore in this particular instance we are following that. We are doing it in a systematic way.
But with weeks before the all-important local government elections, leadership expert Mazwe Majola warned that the ANC can not wait until the ‘eleventh hour’ only to say that it has been experiencing problems.
“It does have disorganisation within the party and it really puts the ANC in a critical vulnerability and competitive disadvantage," he said.
