JOHANNESBURG - A third suspect in connection with the Ekurhuleni blue lights saga has been arrested and detained at a local police station.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) confirmed that the suspect faces charges of fraud and corruption and is set to appear before the Germiston Magistrate Court on Friday.
The suspect will appear alongside EMPD deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi.

Mkhwanazi was served with yet another warrant of arrest earlier in the day, with his lawyer confirming that Vusimuzi Matlala would appear in court as a co-accused.
Evidence before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry alleged that vehicles linked to Matlala were registered under the City of Ekurhuleni and fitted with blue lights.
Mkhwanazi alleged that Matlala’s vehicles were “donated” to the City.
He said this was how CAT VIP vehicles were registered.
