LEBOMBO - South Africa's borders are under pressure from drug smuggling and weak controls to corruption and fraud.

Authorities are struggling to maintain law and order.

One area of concern is the Lebombo border post, between South Africa and Mozambique.

Recent political tensions and post-election violence in Mozambique led to its temporary closure.

There were also concerns about how many Mozambicans fled into South Africa.

The border has also been used for human trafficking operations.
