Call to ban offshore oil and gas exploration

CAPE TOWN - The five recipients of South Africa's Goldman Environmental Prize are urging government to revoke the National Petroleum Company Bill right away.

They have written a letter to the President and are requesting government halt all drilling for oil and gas off the coast of South Africa.

Environmental leaders say the country needs to step up its efforts at COP28 to take the lead in the continent's fossil fuel phase-out.
