CAPE TOWN - Cape Town law enforcement has seized over 50 unlicensed firearms and ammunition in July alone.
It’s part of intensified crime-fighting operations across the Cape Flats, after weeks of deadly shootings.
Mitchells Plain crime fighters and residents have bought into campaigns geared at eradicating crime from the area. One of them is to paint over walls carrying signs of gang graffiti.
Provincial leaders have also welcomed the establishment of a Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee as well as a Commission of Inquiry to probe allegations of political manipulation levelled against Minister Senzo Mchunu.
With the efficacy of police operations set to come under the spotlight in the coming weeks, residents in crime-ridden areas have amplified calls for a prolonged effort geared at ridding communities of criminality.
