Johannesburg City Parks says they are doing all they can to prevent vandalism on public properties.

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg City Parks says they are doing all they can to prevent vandalism on public properties.

But they simply do not have the manpower to stop the problem completely.

The Ash Walls in Braamfontein cemetery have seen urns broken open, ashes scattered and plaques ripped from the walls.

But Friends of Johannesburg Cemeteries says nothing has been done since they reported the issue last month.

Joburg City Parks says they do not have enough manpower to adequately monitor what are often vast pieces of land.

Spokesperson Jenny Moodley says a coordinated approach is required.
