City of Cape Town assures police of support into Malusi Booi probe
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says he has assured the police of the city’s support in the ongoing investigation.
CAPE TOWN - Cape Town's Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements Malusi Booi has been suspended with immediate effect.
This follows a South African Police Service search and seizure operation at the Civic Centre, including the office of Councillor Booi.
Police say it's part of an investigation into fraud and corruption.
Detectives confiscated electronic equipment and documents.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said he was caught completely off guard by the raid.
Hill-Lewis says he has assured the police of the city’s support in the ongoing investigation.
