Court interdicts Alexander Forbes from paying out Mabuza R44-million estate

JOHANNESBURG - The Mpumalanga High Court has interdicted Alexander Forbes from paying the R44.7-million annuity of late former Deputy President David Mabuza.

The court heard that Mabuza had wanted to update the beneficiaries on his annuity fund before his death, but never finished the process.

That missing step became central in the court battle over his estate.

Nonhlahla Patience Mnisi, who received a marriage certificate after Mabuza’s death, claimed she’s the sole beneficiary.

But Mabuza’s daughter Tamara Silinda challenged the claim.

In court, the judge told the family to settle its disputes over Mabuza's estate.
