Cry Our Beloved Country | Kempton Park's ghost hospital: A lifesaver left to rot

KEMPTON PARK, GP - Once the heartbeat of the suburb, Kempton Park hospital delivered more than just babies;  it offered hope. 

But today it’s nothing but a ghostly monument to lost memories and broken promises. It's become a white elephant, a cautionary tale in the crumbling story of South Africa’s health system.

When you step inside the abandoned health facility, you’ll swear you’ve wandered onto the set of a horror movie.

The walls, once sterile white, are now a technicolour  canvas of graffiti.

For nearly 30 years, Kempton Park Hospital has been closed, the government shut it down because it was underused
