JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng is accusing Premier Panyaza Lesufi of acting only to protect his public image.
They were briefing the media on plans to table a motion of no confidence against him.
This follows the phasing out of the Amapanyaza crime wardens programme.
The Public Protector found the programme was established illegally.

The DA's Solly Msimanga says Lesufi only takes action when watchdogs are about to expose him.
"Only when he hears that the SIU was about to release information does he come out in front of cameras and say he is suspending," Msimanaga said.
"You can see Panyaza is not interested in doing the right thing; he is only interested in saving his public image by coming in public just before the Chapter 9 institution or other organs of state are about to make public statements."
