EKURHULENI - Opposition parties are calling for the suspension of embattled Ekurhuleni City Manager Kagiso Lerutla after his return to work on Monday.
Lerutla is facing fraud and corruption charges linked to allegations that he paid someone to impersonate him in court after a 2019 speeding arrest.
The matter has sparked outrage, with critics questioning the City's accountability and public trust.

Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni said it would resubmit an urgent motion to the Speaker of Council, to place Lerutla on precautionary suspension.
In a statement on Monday, the DA rejected the City Manager's return to work.
"The DA will not watch as someone accused of fraud, corruption, and defeating the ends of justice is allowed to come back to work in the top echelons of the City’s administration," the party said.
The DA further argued that such a decision undermines residents and their trust in the municipality and called for the Speaker takes the allegations against Lerutla seriously.
"This is a slap in the face of residents of Ekurhuleni who deserve a government that holds its officials to the highest possible standards."
Residents also weighed in on the matter as they expressed their frustration.
