Delft tragedy | Community demands justice after child killed by police van

DELFT - IPID in the Western Cape is investigating a culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving case after a police van collided with three children and killed an 11-year-old.

Namhla Nondala, a Grade 4 pupil, died outside a spaza shop in Delft.

Outraged community members say the officers were drunk and are demanding compensation for the families.

Community leaders want police to take responsibility.

They reject claims that the van swerved off the road to avoid colliding with a taxi. 

Residents torched the police vehicle out of anger.
