JOHANNESBURG - Implementation of the Aarto demerit system has been delayed until July next year.
The Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (Aarto) Act was to be extended to 69 municipalities on 1 December.
For now, Aarto remains active in Johannesburg and Tshwane.
1 July 2026 has been earmarked as the new implementation date.
