E-hailing drivers want taxi operators out of Maponya Mall after deadly attack

PIMVILLE - E-hailing drivers are calling for government to bring taxi drivers who are harrassing them to book.

They say they can not operating in the same vicinity as taxi operators and that they should not be allowed at Maponya Mall. 

Their grievances comes after the brutal attack on an e-hailing driver. Police say the attackers shot the driver before torching his car.

Another driver and a passerby sustained gunshot wounds. 

The attack is suspected to be linked to ongoing tensions between e-hailing drivers and local taxi operators.

Emotions were high as angry community members gathered outside the mall, demanding answers. 

This saw Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale meet with the mall management alongside e-haling service drivers as well as taxi associations to device solutions following the attack. 

Diale-Tlabela, has since told Maponya Mall management to open for E-hailing services at the centre.
