EC Liquor Board to lay charges after minors died in tavern
JOHANNESBURG - The Eastern Cape Liquor Board says criminal charges will be laid against the owner of a tavern in Hofmeyr.
That is after alcohol was sold there to three females, two of them under the age of 18.
All three died from what initial reports suggest is an unknown substance that was sprayed inside the tavern.
In June last year, 21 young people died at the Enyobeni tavern in East London.
EC Liquor Board spokesperson Mgwebi Msiya says the board is disappointed, but it will continue to engage with communities to educate them about underage drinking.
