The union says issues students are raising were discussed with government and several decisions were taken.

The SAUS' Asive Dlanjwa said, "as student or rather as a union we support the protests that have been happening at Wits and all other institutions. We’re disappointed at the department by how it has conducted themselves throughout."

"The majority of things in the memorandum of students are things that we have meet over. We called the institutions and the department and discussed these things. We agreed that all students who meet requirements should be allowed to register irrespective of how much they owe…Some of these issues the students are raising are issues that should have been dealt with and they’re not even difficult to deal with.”
