Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya is disputing where he was arrested in connection with allegations of sexual grooming and rape. His lawyers say he was arrested at a restaurant near The Grand in Sandton, while investigating officer Nokukhanya Ndlovu insists she arrested him inside the strip club. The defence has also challenged testimony about the ages of the women involved. Sibiya was arrested on 21 September.
An arrest warrant has been issued but stayed for former Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula after she failed to appear in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria. The warrant will only be executed if she fails to appear on 11 November. She faces corruption and money-laundering charges linked to her time as Defence Minister between 2014 and 2021. The state alleges she received about R4 million in corrupt payments from a military contractor.

Weaker gold and platinum prices have also limited support for the rand.

BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi says officers will be required to wear body-worn cameras during operations. The authority says more than 50 officials have been fired, many after corruption arrests. Officials will also be vetted and required to declare their assets.
