Fadiel Adams accused of disrespecting courts

PINETOWN - Member of Parliament Fadiel Adams has been accused of disrespecting the courts.

This was heard when Adams appeared before the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for his formal bail application after he was remanded in custody last week.

In court, State Prosecutor Advocate Nokulunga Ngcobo argued that Adams used foul language on social media, violating a court order.

"On his social media post briefing, a member of parliament and lawmaker gave the court a middle finger. The language used in his post is indicative of someone who does not respect our court. As indicated earlier, he continues defaming people and calling them names," he said.

Adams was arrested by the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) in a dramatic takedown last week, on three charges of fraud and two of defeating the ends of justice.

The state alleges Adams falsely claimed he was on official parliamentary duty to gain access to a hitman convicted of killing former ANC Youth League Secretary General, Sindiso Magaqa.

The matter continues in court.
