JOHANNESBURG - Police said investigations continue into the shooting of Feroz Khan.
He was shot at the weekend and remains in hospital, in a critical condition.
Police are yet to establish a motive behind Sunday night's shooting in Houghton, Johannesburg.
Acting National Police Commissioner Puleng Dimpane said a high-level investigation is underway
"I plead that we allow for the investigation to continue. There are teams that we have put in place, led by Gauteng organised crime. The provincial commissioner and I are in constant communication about this, so the investigation is at an advanced stage," she said.
Suspended Crime Intelligence deputy head Feroz Khan's legal team filed an application for in-camera testimony at the Madlanga Commission.

Khan's testimony is said to be of a very sensitive nature and could put his life at risk.
Zubair Khan, his lawyer, said the top cop was willing to testify provided suitable protection mechanisms were in place.
