ZASTRON, FREE STATE - Freezing temperatures have gripped parts of the Free State, as a cold front moves across several provinces.
The South African Weather Service warns of significant snowfall, heavy rains and chilly weather in certain parts of the Eastern Cape and Free State.

The residents say they are expecting things to get worse as they experienced the same freezing conditions last year.
