Gauteng SOPA | Wardens 'a bandage over the wound' - Resident

 

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng residents want more police, not wardens.

That's the response to Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi's State of the Province Address and his plans to increase the number of Crime Prevention Wardens.

Pierre van Wyk of the Ferndale Residents Association told eNCA, "We need more police, not wardens as such. What authority do wardens have to fight crime?"

Lesufi has hailed Crime Prevention Wardens as the ‘Heroes’ fighting crime.

Meanwhile, some opposition parties have described Lesufi’s address as another speech filled with empty promises.

 

 

Political parties, including the Democratic Alliance and Freedom Front Plus, say the address is out of touch with reality.
